Mantra is used as a spiritual practice. It has been used during the practice of yoga and meditation. Mantra is a sound vibration that helps shape our reality. (Capobianco, 2018) – Mantras are energy, based on sounds that create thought energy waves (Farrand, N.D)
The word Mantra comes from a Sanskrit language which can be broken down into two parts
- “Man” which means mind
- “Tra” which means transport or vehicle
Mantra can interpret as an instrument or vehicle that assists in transporting or elevating your mind (Farrand, N.D).
The benefits while practicing mantra are:
- Beginning to understand how your mind works
- Alleviate stress, anger, jealousy, and other negative states
- Calming of your nervous system being able to relax
- Setting boundaries to increase your self-care
- Witnessing your own heart and the heart of others
(Farrand, N.D).

Individuals who have a diagnosis of PTSD will also experience a decrease in PTSD symptoms and increase of, existential Spiritual Well-being. (feeling or meaning, purpose of life, faith and assurance) (Fiore, R. Tosti, E. 2013).
